1st Playable Stage

This week I am trying to create the first playable stage of my video game. I have found it quite difficult because I find Unity quite hard to use. So far, following the tutorials is okay but sometimes I run into a problem that I can't fix even if I follow the tutorial word for word.

The good thing is it often works if I try again and again and go back to videos I've already seen and try what didn't work before again. I am doing a bit of the game every day to meet my goal but as I said sometimes it is quite difficult to get the game to work especially the parts where I need to input C# code. I feel as though I am quite bad at this.

I'm a bit further than where I was last week but it's still very difficult to get it to work for me.

  1. Hey Anna!,
I really enjoyed reading through your blog post for your 1st playable stage today. I'm also making a 2D game because of the plugin that I was recommended to use is to be done in 2D only. So far your game looks really cool and fun! I also have struggled getting the #c code to work for me too. It can be really tricky to use sometimes. I'm also struggling trying to develop my game further as the weeks go on because something seems to always go wrong and I'm right back where I was last week. I even started from scratch a couple of times because everything got erased on me. I hope that your able to fix your issue that your having and finish your game. Anyways,
    Good Luck !

  2. Hey Anna,

I agree, Unity can be very hard to use. I have also struggled quite a bit when trying to make my game. Don`t worry though I am sure that we will both be able to finish our games. I like the concept of a 2D game as most people I have spoken to are making a 3D game. I guess yours is going to be unique! I am glad that you`re making progress, even if it is just small steps all the way. Thats how we will all make it through. I hope you can get your #c code working soon, It can be super frustrating when you get stuck on a specific part of your games.

Good luck with the rest of your game design, I can wait to see the final piece!

  3. Hey Anna,

I think everyone can agree that Unity can be very difficult to use at times.. Im having a lot of trouble myself with the coding side to creating a game and it can be frustrating when it fails to work. I think its a good idea to make a 2D game and it looks really good from the photograph. It looks like your game is taking shape and your making a lot of progress. The level looks really fun and I love the use of bright vvid colours, your game has a fun vibe to it! I hope you continue to make good progress and I can't wait to see the finished piece!

  4. Hey Anna,
I really enjoyed reading your blog and I too feel the same way as you with working with unity tutorial that it is very hard to follow and especially with c# script they're very confusing in my opinion. I also had a lot of trouble with unity many error started to come up also with slow laptop is more frustrating to work on the game. Your game design looks really cool, I really liked the bright colour used, your game gives a lot of happy and lively vibes. I think a lot of people will love to play your game. Can't wait to see how your game will turn out. Good luck with your game!

  5. Hey Anna,
I completely agree that unity is really difficult to use! Unity is especially hard to use on a slow laptop and it can be very frustrating.. sometimes I have to spend hours on one video just to get it right! I like how your game is 2D and I really regret not doing a 2D game! So far it looks really good! Glad that you are making progress even if it is slowly! I really like the colours that you used in your game it makes it look fun and bright. I think your game is suitable for everyone and everyone will be able to enjoy it! Good luck with your game!
